Village Counselor


The Counselors play one of the most important roles at camp because they have the greatest impact on the qualitiy of experience for our participants.  In each cabin, there are one or two counselors that supervise 6-8 campers ranging in ages from 9-14 years old.

Leadership Training Coordinator

The Leadership Training Coordinators are responsible for training the future leaders of Lake Valley Camp.  They provide guidance and support to participants ages 15-16 as they move through the Leadership Training Program.  At Resident Camp, Coordinators advise, manage and support LTs as they challenge themselves in dynamic ways.

Aquatics Specialist  

The Aquatics Specialist is in charge of all programming at the lake and the pool.  Their main responsibility is delivering fun, age appropriate, and safe aquatic programs during morning and afternoon activity times.  Every participant takes swimming lessons therefore it makes up for a significant portion of the aquatics program. They also support and supervise counselors and lifeguards in these areas.  Read More. . .
 
Creative Arts Specialist 

The Creative Arts Specialist is responsible for developing new and delivering existing art programs to participants in morning and afternoon periods.  Although curriculum already exists, this person has freedom in developing projects and activities as long as it is age appropriate and engaging for the kids.  The Creative Arts Specialist is also responsible for assisting in the delivery of some all-camp programs as part of the program specialist team.

Equestrian Specialist

The Equestrian Specialist oversees all horseback riding programs.  The main responsibility is delivering fun, age appropriate, and safe equestrian programs, during morning and afternoon activity times.  Participants sign up for horse programs individually in the mornings and cabins groups go to the horse barn in the afternoon.  The equestrian specialist also oversees programs that take place at the small animal barn.  The Equestrian Specialist is also responsible for assisting in the delivery of some all-camp programs as part of the program specialist team.

The Equestrian Specialist must be at least 21 years old and have at least six weeks management or supervisory experience at a horseback riding facility.  Furthermore, he/she must possess either certification as an instructor from a nationally recognized organzation or riding school OR documented endorsements or successful experience in formal horseback riding instruction.


Assistant Equestrian Specialist
 
The Assistant Equestrian Specialist is directly supervised by the Equestrian Specialist and works with that person to deliver programs at the horse barn and the small animal pavilion.  Working with the horses throughout the summer to keep them healthy and program ready is a key part of the job as well as maintaining the horse and small animal barns and all supplies/equipment.  The Assistant Equestrian Specialist is also responsible for assisting in the delivery of some all-camp programs as part of the program specialist team.

The Assistant Equestrian Specialist must be at least 19 years old with previous experience in horseback riding programs.

Environmental Education Specialist

The environmental education specialist provides exciting, fun, age appropriate environmental education programming.  Participants sign up for nature classes in the morning individually and cabins groups attend programming in the afternoon.   The Environmental Education Specialist is also responsible for assisting in the delivery of some all-camp programs as part of the program specialist team.  The Environmental Education Specialist must be at least 19 years old.

Facilities and Grounds Assistant  

The Facilities and Grounds Assistant assists in the maintenance of the camp facilities, grounds and equipment (laundry, mowing, cleaning, etc).

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Lifeguard  

The Lifeguard protects the safety and well being of each participant using the Lake Valley Camp aquatic facilities. The lifeguard works directly with participants providing courteous, friendly and professional assistance and enforces the rules of the aquatic areas.

Must be at least 18 years of age, previous employment in a pool setting, must possess a lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized body.
