Fall 2016

I miss my old neighborhood

I miss seeing my brothers laugh and smile,

But now I see them sad and crying

I want to go back.

I miss my old neighborhood.

I miss hearing my neighbor’s dog bark and night,

But now I hear nothing but a silent fright.

I want to go back.

I miss my old neighborhood.

I miss my hardwood floor,

But now I have to deal with a rough carpet.

I want to go back.

I miss my old neighborhood.

I miss the taste of fresh good,

But now, I don’t even know what I’m eating.

I want to go back.

I miss my old neighborhood.

I miss smelling the nice fragrance I loved,

But now, there isn’t even a smell to like.

I want to go back.

Lately I’ve been having the same nightmare.

It makes me wonder how I got there,

But what hurts me most is knowing

That it doesn’t happen when I am asleep.
