Ta’Cori Luster, 11, attends St. Marcus Lutheran School. She is a voyager at Lake Valley Camp. She likes Lake Valley Camp and Rise Up because she can meet new friends.
Briceson Johnson, 13, attends MCP 36th St. He plans to go to St. Thomas More High School. He is a student athelete who is a leader in class and on the basketball court. He can beat box and dance pretty well.
Leilani White-Johnson, 13, is a strong-willed, golden-hearted writer who has an extremely powerful imagination. She attends Milwaukee College Prep 36th and she feels that the ordinary school days inspire for extra-ordinary things. Who says things are ordinary?
Cinaa Smith, 14, attends Milwaukee College Prep. She is a spoken word artist and a potential sketch artist. In Cinaa’s spare time she likes to run and read; it also helps to keep her focused. Her spoken word inspirations come from her community, life and also her city is her inspiration. Her catchphrase: “Don’t be like me, be better than me.”
Davion Bass, 13, attends Milwaukee College Prep and plans on going to Milwaukee Lutheran. He is a rapper and a dancer at times.
Keyandre Thompson, age of 12, is a poet in training. He attends Milwaukee College Prep, 26th Street. Before he came to Rise Up, he didn’t know he had a talent, but the program inspired him to work on it.
Anastasia Ramos, 12, attends Bruce Guadalupe Middle School. She is a Voyager at Lake Valley Camp. She is a believer in pushing personal boundaries. She enjoys reading, writing, learning about different societies, especially dystopian ones. Anastasia believes it’s important to express yourself through creativity. Anastasia enjoys swimming and her favorite book is Divergent.
Marijah Franklin, 12, attends St. Marcus Lutheran School. She is a youth leader at LVC Rise Up. Marijah started doing poetry, dancing, singing, and acting at the age of 3. She’s inspired by her mother, father and grandmother. In the future, she hopes to be a doctor In order to achieve this goal, in her downtime she does a lot of study. Marijah would like to make a change in her world. It starts by every small step she takes.
Ali Moreno is 12 years old and is in middle school. She is into water color, sculptures, paintings, and anime. She does art for fun and to calm herself down. She doesn’t really remember how she started.
Newton Baez, 12, attends Bruce Guadalupe Middle School. He is a Voyager at LVC. Newton started to make art in art class and Rise Up. He got started making art with his cousin. His cousin wa a great artist and an inspiration. In his free time he watches TV and goes outside. A quote that inspires him is “America is Mexican, Asian, Black, White, and British. America is immigrants.”
