How did you get started working with non-profits?

My love for camp started when I was six years old when I began attending Wisconsin Wildlife Federation: Camp Glacier Hollow in Nelsonville, WI. I grew up through this amazing program rooted in Environmental Education and Appreciation. I eventually went through the Counselor-In-Training program and then became a staff member. When the Stevens Point Area YMCA bought Glacier Hollow, I was able to continue my journey at camp with them. They opened my eyes and my heart to the larger world of non-profits and camp programming with their amazing year-round model. A passion was instilled in my heart during the 15 years I was with Glacier Hollow and my 8 years with the YMCA. This lead me to completing a degree in Resource Management: Youth Programming/Camp Management at the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point. I have also been able to make an impact with a variety of other youth serving organizations with a variety of different programs including after-school care, early childhood education, outreach program creation/implementation, and day camps.

With LVC?

I took a small recess from the non-profit world for a while and  pursued a career in restaurant management.  During this time my husband and I relocated to the Milwaukee area. I was not looking to rejoin the non-profit world at all, until a position posting for Lake Valley Camp came my way and the mission called to me. Now with more than a year under my belt, i proudly say #IAMLVC.
